With a passion for natural beauty, Susan has created or studied art for most of her life. In addition she has been selling her art work for almost 25 years. While most of her awards in regional, state and national juried exhibitions have been for landscape pastels or oil paintings, she also works with acrylics and watercolors. She particularly enjoys painting outside, and is not only renewed by the contact with nature but challenged by the changing light and colors. Even though she prefers working outside, some of her most striking work has been done from her photos of natural scenes. Her commissions have included: landscapes, portraits, houses/buildings, and abstracts.
In the past ten years, Susan has expanded her creative work to include more expressionistic and abstract art forms, and to teaching others. The more expressionistic works include: mandalas, designs using sacred geometry, journaling that includes art, and illustrations of inspirational words. Believing in the psychological and emotional benefits of color, line and form, she creates art reflecting her inner light. Susan has also taught classes in drawing, water colors and illustrating affirmations with pastels.
