My drip series is created in my studio from photographs taken by myself or my husband, with a nice dose of artistic license from my mind. These paintings are created entirely by drips of paint on stretched canvas.
There is a natural connection between my subject matter, which is typically nature based in this series, and the technique of dripping paint. The unpredictability of nature paired with the chancy dripping technique creates a beautiful motif of controlled chaos. Whether I’m creating art with drips of paint or a paint brush, I favor using thick distinctive marks on the surface. I enjoy leaving a trail of how my work formed. The process of creating a painting is as enjoyable as the result. I like to look at my drips and brush strokes on a complete piece, like a logbook of the journey.
