Having grown up in beautiful Colorado, I have always been inspired by the epic panoramas of the American West. Like the great Romantic landscape painters of the 19th century, I seek to capture the transcendental sublimity of such landscapes. To achieve this sense of the sublime, I make certain my paintings are uninhabited. Completely devoid of human presence, they become contemplative depictions of stillness and solitude, a welcome antidote to our media-saturated world. Beyond merely rendering geographical features, it is essential for me to capture the metaphysical dimension of each landscape. A symbolic work emerges which initiates a subjective emotional response in the viewer.
