Oils and Pastels

I was born in Quebec, Canada and was raised in new England and later attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Art has always been a vital part of my life and I moved to Colorado about 10 years ago to be closer to the wilderness of the West.

My paintings are a result of plein air studies, personal photo references, and mostly observation. They are a response to the beauty out here and have become a point of departure to express heart felt emotion that can only be articulated in paint or pastel. Hence the typical pristine or idyllic landscapes become more intense, taking on a transcendent reality. Amplifying color, and texture is an effective way for me to come close to this.

My subjects also involve realistically rendered animals whose expressions and stances are human with full range of attitudes.. My work invites you to become connected and feel your own response at various levels.

I have been represented in several galleries locally and in the East. Recently I have done a few city commissions for Loveland and explored delightful animal subjects portraying stories of our every day lives. I have also returned to drawing the human figure which was my focus at the Academy.

I have a studio in Loveland and Outdoors. I invite you to see how I work and want to pass on the excitement of making art.
