Acrylics on Canvas
Born in the town of Berrien Springs, Michigan, Angela Canada Hopkins early interest in art was encouraged by her fathers passion for life and her mothers own artistic talents. Between 1997 and 2001 Angela studied painting and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Andrews University. During her last year of school, her father succumbed to cancer in June 2001, she decided the best way to overcome her new "enemy" was by embracing it through her art. Each painting begins with a reference to a cancer cell, which Canada Hopkins then deconstructs and reinterprets using triumphant colors and bold brush strokes. Each canvas telegraphs a message of hope to cancer sufferers, cancer survivors, and their loved ones. Canada Hopkins is a full-time artist and has resided in downtown Loveland since 2006, with her husband, James.
